Woman cited for skip scanning at Walmart

It seems to happens frequently and the guilty parties are often caught thanks to video surveillance. Skip scanning is when a shopper scans only one or two items in a stack of merchandise or hides an item under another item that they scan.

Police were called to Walmart shortly before Christmas where they interviewed a woman who was accused of shoplifting. The woman had been detained in the asset protection office after security personnel saw her skip scanning on security video. The woman admitted to shoplifting and said that she had never done it before but wanted some extra things for her family. The items she allegedly shoplifted amounted to $119.43.

According to the police report the woman was visibly upset by her actions. The officer completed a citation with a court date and presented it to the woman for signing. After she signed the document promising to appear at her scheduled court date, the officer told her she was free to go.
