THATCHER — The Gila Valley is encouraged to welcome home the national champion Eastern Arizona College women’s basketball team.
The public is being asked to gather in the Mark Allen Hall parking lot between 9-11 p.m., when the team bus should arrive. Everyone is encouraged to wear purple and gold.
The Gila Monsters defeated the New Mexico Junior College Dragons, 57-51, in the NJCAA Division 1 Championship Tuesday in Lake Charles, La.
It was the third appearance in three years in the final four by the women’s team, and the first basketball national championship for the school.
