SUPERIOR — Arizona Department of Transportation announced Monday afternoon that U.S. Highway 60 between Superior and Miami is closed for an indeterminate amount of time.

The closure in both directions is due to delays in the demolition of the old Pinto Creek Bridge.

Motorists may use State Route 177 and SR 77 as an alternate route until the highway reopens. Eastbound vehicles are being redirected at SR 177 in Superior, and westbound vehicles are being redirected at the west end of Miami.

The detour includes a 10-percent grade and will significantly increase travel time.

Motorists should proceed with caution, slow down, watch for equipment, and follow the directions of flaggers and law enforcement.
