Two more deaths due to COVID-19 in Safford

SAFFORD — Graham County experienced two more COVID-19 related deaths this week.

Graham County Health Department announced the deaths Wednesday evening. Both victims were described as Safford residents over the age of 65.

That brings Graham County’s total number of coronavirus deaths to 19, with 15 of those deaths occurring over the last 29 days.

The Health Department also announced an additional 15 positive cases, bringing the county’s total to 574, with 358 active and 197 recovered.

The San Carlos Apache Tribe announced 18 new cases Wednesday. That brings the tribe’s total to 634, with 146 active, 479 recovered and nine deaths.

The Peridot District continues to be the hardest hit by coronavirus, with 215 cases and three deaths, while Bylas has experienced 155 cases.

It’s now been six days since Greenlee County recorded a positive case of COVID-19. The Greenlee County Health Department reports the number of cases holding at 58, with 14 active, 42 recovered and two deaths.
