SAFFORD — Two women were booked into Graham County jail on drug charges, after being observed stopping at a location known for drug activity.
On Aug. 29, after seeing the women’s vehicle pull away, Safford Police officer conducted a traffic stop. When asked for identification, the passenger dropped something between the seats, which later was discovered to be a phone and smoking devices.
She was also found to be in possession of a piece of tinfoil with residue that field-tested positive for meth, and a number of pills believed fentanyl.
Meanwhile, a search of the driver’s purse turned up a pipe the driver reportedly said would have meth residue, as she allegedly admitted to smoking meth earlier in the day.
The driver also failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The passenger was charged with possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. The report was also forwarded to the Graham County Attorney’s Office for review of additional charges.
