The Way World Outreach announces purchase of Victory Fellowship

SAFFORD — One of the two movie theater complexes in the Gila Valley has been sold.

Pastor Robert Cuencas told the Safford City Council Monday that his church, The Way World Outreach, has purchased Victory Fellowship.

Cuencas said the plan is to keep the movie theater open, as well as considering re-opening the miniature golf location next door, which has been closed for more than a decade.

“We’re going to be remodeling the theater inside and out. I’m looking for a grand opening maybe in a couple of months,” Cuencas said.

Cuencas said The Way World Outreach started in San Bernardino, Calif.; and has expanded to two locations in San Bernardino; one in the Compton area of Los Angeles; one in Pomona, Calif.; one in Tijuana, Mexico; and another in Kenya in addition to the newest church in Safford.

“Our number one goal is to meet the needs of the people. Our biggest ministry is called Adopt a Block,” Cuencas said. “We adopt neighborhoods; we adopt families that need help.

“We just launched it this last Saturday at the Gila River Apartments (and) we met several families,” he continued. “We met a grandma who has six kids; she needs a lot of help. (We) ran into a mom who needs baby clothes, which we just delivered a few hours ago. So that’s what we do.”
