SAFFORD — There will now be two vigils for the special needs woman that has been missing for 38 days.
Looking for Liberty Message of Hope Candlelight Vigils will take place Saturday, March 4, at 5 p.m.; and Thursday, March 9, at 6 p.m.; both at the Graham County Chamber of Commerce, 1051 W. Thatcher Blvd., Safford.
Liberty Salazar, 21, has been diagnosed as autistic with epilepsy, and was last seen near her family’s mailbox at her home near Cactus Ranch Road and U.S. Highway 191 on Jan. 23.
“I wish I could say we came here because she’s been found, but she has not,” said Scarlet Donaldson, Salazar’s mother. “We do not know her whereabouts; we don’t have a guess. We don’t know if she’s here right in our county or across the United States; we have no idea.”
In addition to spreading awareness about Salazar, the vigils will feature speakers sharing information about adult autism, guardianship for adults with special needs, internet safety, and the growing crisis of missing and endangered indigenous women.
Salazar was last seen wearing black, pointy-toed cowboy boots; a Puma hoodie; a plaid shirt; blue jeans; and a pink wrist watch.
Anyone with information about Salazar is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 928-428-3141. For more information about the vigils, call 612-325-1549.
