SAFFORD — Brandt Woods is on a mission to paint 31 murals in Safford’s Downtown.

This weekend, he’s calling on the public’s help.

“The old Real Deals Building, which is now Gila Valley Made, has, like, eight squares that are 10-foot by 10-foot, and we’ve been planning out this Instagram/mural/tourism wall,” Woods said.

Woods has created templates that the public can use to help him paint all but one of the remaining murals on the west side of the Gila Valley Made building, accommodating every skill level when it comes to art.

He will start with laying down base coats of paint on Thursday, which the public is welcome to join in on; however, colors and designs will happen on Friday and Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. and going until dark each day.

The remaining mural space will be completed without the public’s help by Mandy Matthews, of Average Anomaly Art. A former resident of the Gila Valley now living in the Phoenix area, she will start work on her mural Thursday and wrap Saturday.

All ages are welcome to help Woods and there is no cost to participate.
