Juvenile charged after threatening family with a pellet gun

GRAHAM COUNTY — A 14-year-old was taken into custody and referred to Juvenile Probation after allegedly fighting and threatening to shoot his brother and mother.

However, the boy’s family said his actions were a result of a developmental disability.

The incident happened April 24, in the area of North Dunedain Path. The boy’s 15-year-old brother told Graham County Sheriff’s Deputies said the suspect has autism and didn’t take his medication that day, making him belligerent.

The mother said the same thing, adding that the boy had shot a pellet gun.

Despite both mother and brother trying to calm the boy, he escaped and went outside, reportedly threatening to “shoot you.”

The mother and brother were able to get the pellet gun away from the boy until deputies arrived.

The boy claimed he was bothered by loud noises his brother was making, causing the incident.

The boy was taken to Juvenile Probation on charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a dangerous instrument and assault.
