Suspect in custody in Clifton following traffic-related shooting

Clifton, AZ – Clifton police have arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide investigation that is currently ongoing. Eduardo Montano Jr, 36, of Tucson has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 35-year-old man early Monday morning.

The victim has been identified as Matthew Misner. Investigators believe the suspect and victim knew each other but they don’t know what their relationship was. A motive for the shooting has not yet been established.

The incident happened early Monday morning on “Horseshoe Curve” on US Highway 191 at milepost 166. The highway was closed to traffic from approximately 5:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

On their Facebook page, the Clifton Police Department thanked the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the Greenlee County Sheriff’s Department and Attorney’s office. ADOT, DPS, Gila Health Medical Personnel, Clifton Fire Department and FMI also assisted with the incident.
