Suicide believed the cause for death of Graham County Jail inmate

SAFFORD — Using razors provided for shaving, an inmate at Graham County Jail is believed to have committed suicide.

In a press release issued Friday, Graham County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the jail on Thursday, June 2, at about 7:53 p.m. Also responding was medical personnel from Lifeline Ambulance.

There, they found the inmate, identified as Michael Allen Reidell, 56, bleeding heavily. GCSO also reports that Reidell resisted when Detention staff attempted to help.

Reidell was taken to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies report finding a note at the jail indicating Reidell’s intentions for self-harm. An autopsy will be performed by the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office and investigation into the incident is ongoing.
