THATCHER — Families Fighting Cancer Together is getting ready to host its second fund-raising sporting event.

A pickleball tournament will take place Saturday, June 18, at the tennis courts at Thatcher High School.

The round-robin tournament is unsanctioned and cost is $55 per player, which includes a T-shirt.

Proceeds will be used to assist families in Graham and Greenlee counties with a child battling cancer or other pediatric illness.

Last month, the nonprofit organization purchased a terrain hopper for Jett Skousen. Skousen, 12, has been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and the terrain hopper allows him to access unpaved areas of the community.

Last October, Families Fighting Cancer Together staged a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at Eastern Arizona College to help raise funds.

To register for the upcoming pickleball tournament, go to Pickleball Tournament (ffct.us).
