SAFFORD — Observation of a truck traveling through city streets at a high rate of speed turned into a drug arrest.
A Safford Police officer observed the truck traveling at speeds approaching 60 miles per hour through residential areas, eventually finding the vehicle and driver parked at an auto parts store.
When the driver, identified as Daniel James Clark, was approached, the officer observed Clark dropping something to the ground, which was later identified as a plastic bag with cocaine.
Clark initially said he didn’t see the officer’s lights or hear the siren during attempted stops, but later reportedly admitted to not stopping due to lack of insurance on the vehicle.
Clark was taken into custody and booked into Graham County Jail on charges of unlawful flight from a law enforcement officer, possession of a narcotic drug and misconduct involving a weapon, as Clark admitted to having a bolt action rifle in his vehicle during the incident.
