SAFFORD — Providing healthy meals to seniors in Graham and Greenlee counties received some extra help from Sparklight.

Sparklight presented Southeastern Community Unique Services with a grant for $7,500 Tuesday, at the Graham County Senior Center.

Stephan Kingston, Field Operations manager for Sparklight, said the process to obtain a grant is very easy.

“It’s a simple form to fill out and we do it twice annually,” Kingston said. “I just recommend every nonprofit out there submit the form.”

Sparklight started its program to assist nonprofit organizations in 2020, and has since granted $1.2 million to nonprofit organizations in the communities that Sparklight serves.

Stephanie Nabor, executive director for SEACUS, said the funds will be used for a specific purpose.

“This money will specifically go to our Meals on Wheels program, so we can continue serving at the capacity we’re at and continue enrolling new Meals on Wheels clients,” Nabor said.

A healthy, nutritious meal is prepared in the SEACUS kitchens every weekday, and volunteer drivers take the meals to homebound seniors in Graham and Greenlee counties, as well as offer the meals to seniors who attend the Senior Centers in Safford, Clifton and Duncan.

In 2025, SEACUS provided 26,706 meals to seniors in Graham County, and 9,089 in Greenlee County.
