Sheriff warns of phone scam

The Graham County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam in which the caller says they’re from the Graham County Sheriff’s Office and then try to coerce money from the person who received the call.

On or about April 28, 2020 citizens of Graham County received a call from someone identifying themselves as a member of the Graham County Sheriff’s Office using current employee names. The caller told the intended victim that they had an active arrest warrant for $2,000, but if they paid the bond they would not be arrested. The caller ID showed the Sheriff’s office general number of 428-3141, which is not the number that shows on caller ID when a call is made from the Sheriff’s office.

The Sheriff’s office warns that this and other phone scams are being used throughout Arizona. Do not give any personal information, account numbers or send money if you receive this type of call.
