PHOENIX — Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes and the State Library announced Friday recipients of Library Services and Technology grants for 2026.
Eastern Arizona College’s Alumni Library received a $5,000 AI Training and Tools grant. The grant is “to help libraries build practical knowledge and experience with generative artificial intelligence technologies.”
Safford City-Graham County Library is getting $12,683 for its Local History Access project.
“The goal of this project is to help the community preserve and access local and personal history. Funds will be used to purchase a new microfilm reader, microfilm Eastern Arizona Courier newspapers from 2016–2020, update a photo scanning station, and provide hands-on classes teaching community members how to use this technology. Community members will benefit because they will gain the tools, skills, and access needed to preserve and share both their personal and local historical records.”
Duncan Public Library received a $25,853 Silver Services grant.
“The goal of this project is to provide necessary resources and services to elderly residents of Greenlee County through community support. Funds will be used to provide monthly sessions with a trained, licensed social worker as well as a privacy booth in which to do consultations. Community members will benefit because creating community support systems can help senior citizens maintain independence and give peace of mind to them as well as their families.”
