Second COVID-19 positive in Greenlee announced

CLIFTON – The Greenlee County Health Department announced a second person has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Health Department made the announcement Thursday evening.

The new case involves a person in the same household as the first person who tested positive, which was announced by the county on March 29.

“We will continue to conduct investigations to identify any close contacts that may have been exposed while the positive person may have been infectious. Any individuals who have been identified will be contacted directly,” said Steve Rutherford, Health Department director, in the announcement.

Greenlee County has tested 51 people thus far, with 44 results coming back as negative. There are five tests results still pending.

Graham County’s number of positive COVID-19 cases remains at two. Graham County has conducted 135 tests thus far, with 130 coming back as negative. There are three test results pending.

Even with the new positive, Graham and Greenlee continue to be the counties with the least number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state.
