Scholarship information at Cash for College

THATCHER —Eastern Arizona College and the Arizona Community Foundation is bringing back the sixth annual Cash for College Scholarship Awareness Night.

The free event is an opportunity for students and their families in Graham and Greenlee counties to learn more about funding opportunities for two- and four-year colleges, as well as trade schools and certificate programs.

“Cash for College is not just scholarships; it’s collecting information on multiple sources of aid to go to school,” said Erik Lehmann, admissions counselor for EAC. “You have the Free Application for Federal Student Aid — the FAFSA — to see if you qualify for Pell Grants or loans or work study. And then a lot of scholarships, whether their funded through the college — like EAC or ASU or any other college — or if they are privately funded.”

In addition to speaking with representatives from various schools and local scholarship providers, attendees can also apply for more than 100 different scholarships, totaling more than $2 million, with one application through the Arizona Community Foundation online portal, at Apply Online – Arizona Community Foundation (azfoundation.org).

Cash for College will take place Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Eastern Arizona College’s Gherald L. Hoopes Activity Center.
