SAFFORD — Twenty-five people were helped into substance recovery in 2025, thanks to Gila Valley Samaritan Home.
That’s according to data released on social media by the nonprofit group on Tuesday.
The agency that helps the unhoused in Graham and Greenlee counties served 4,657 daily meals, provided 2,023 showers and offered those experiencing homelessness to do 1,439 load of laundry in 2025.
“Once a month we go out to the (San Carlos Apache) Reservation, once a month we go out to Greenlee County. So doing that all year long, it’s really been beneficial to us as far as knowing who needs the help,” said Sue Ciacimino, Gila Valley Samaritan Home executive director.
In addition to personal care, in 2025 Gila Valley Samaritan Home provided:
- 550 food bags
- 300 food boxes
- 357 hygiene kits
And the agency helped 23 individuals obtain identification — which helps them obtain benefits and return to the work force — as well as help 18 individuals and families obtain permanent housing.
To help fund the mission, Gila Valley Samaritan Home is hosting a Mardi Gras fund-raiser at the Ag Building on Graham County Fairgounds this Saturday.
The event will feature a Cajun dinner, music and dancing, plus a silent auction. Cost per person is $50 in advance, $60 at the door.
