SAFFORD — Safford Police are investigating what appears to be a false claim of a high school student threatening fire a weapon at school.

Safford officers, along with Thatcher Police officers and Graham County Sheriff’s deputies, responded to the school Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, when a reporting party said a student brought a gun to school and was threatening to shoot people.

Officers found the accused student in the principal’s office, where it was discovered the student had no weapons and had not made any threats.

The Safford Police school resource officer and detectives continue to investigate the incident.
