SAFFORD — The City of Safford is announced the City of Safford 2026-36 General Plan has been officially approved by the Safford City Council, following extensive public participation and community engagement.
The General Plan will now move forward to the November 2026 ballot for voter ratification.
This 10‑year plan serves as the city’s foundational guiding document for future decision making, land use planning, capital investments, and long‑range community goals. Approval of the general plan does not increase taxes.
Community input played a central role in shaping the updated vision and priorities for Safford’s next decade, and Planning and Community Development Director Jaime Embick underscored the importance of the document, saying, “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the community as we move into the implementation phase. Once ratified, the General Plan will serve as a key reference in guiding our projects and planning efforts over the next 10 years.”
As the city prepares for the upcoming ballot, additional community outreach and informational opportunities will be provided to help residents learn more about the General Plan and its role in guiding Safford’s future growth and development.
