RFPs solicited for Red Lamp development in Thatcher

THATCHER — Three years after purchasing and demolishing the old Red Lamp RV park, the Town of Thatcher is ready to develop it into something new.

The town issued a request for proposals to develop the 4.4 acres into a mixed-use feature of the town.

Conceptual plans call for a number of two-story buildings, with retail on the first floor and either residential housing or offices on the second.

The goal is to also have a number of indoor/outdoor features, such as cafes, as well as a number of art pieces and a pedestrian plaza.

When the town purchased the old RV park, Town Manager Heath Brown said, “The goal is to improve Thatcher. We want to improve the area, make it look good, generate a profit for the town, and encourage more beautification along the highway. We hope that in the end it’s a positive for the Town of Thatcher.”

Developers interested in the project have until Jan. 27, 2022, to submit a proposal.
