Recent Social Security Scam hitting Graham County Residents

Scammers tend to prey on their victims particularly hard during the holidays. Once again, residents of Graham County are being hit hard by scammers, this time claiming your Social Security number has been compromised. Law Enforcement officials are advising citizens not to give any personal information over the phone. It is also important to remember the Social Security Administration, IRS and other Government agencies will not contact you by phone, but by mail.

It is suggested that you put your name on the National Do Not Call Registry, this may be done by calling 888-382-1222 or by visiting www.donotcall.gov.

If you believe you have been the victim of scam calls, please file a consumer complaint by contacting the Attorney General’s Office in Phoenix at (602) 542-5763, in Tucson at (520) 628-6504, or outside the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas at (800) 352-8431. Consumers can also file complaints online by visiting the Attorney General’s website at https://www.azag.gov/complaints/consumer.
