CLIFTON — During Tuesday’s Greenlee County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Arizona Community Foundation named Leslie Ray its Greenlee County Volunteer of the Year.

Ray is the director of the Clifton Office of Tourism, and was instrumental in keeping open the lookout above the Morenci  mine and fought the proposed closure of the Coronado Trail (U.S. Highway  191) when budget cuts threatened the popular tourist attractions.

She also coordinates the Clifton area blood drives, earning the distinction of collecting the most units per capita in the state.

Arizona Community Foundation focuses on philanthropy, and numerous field offices throughout the state have gathered almost $1 billion in assets in order to support more than 1,700 Arizona charitable funds with grant, scholarship and loan distributions.

ACF also shines a light on exceptional volunteer organizations and individuals that go above and beyond.
