Firefighters and law enforcement responded to a house fire on Cheyenne Drive on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at approximately 11:00 pm. The fire engulfed the home and a box truck that was near the residence. A deputy contacted one of the residents who said that she had been asleep in the box truck and woke up flames in the truck. She was able to get out without injury.
The woman said that they had been using a portable propane heater because the house did not have power. Another resident was at a neighbor’s house when he saw the fire. He said that the heater was probably too close to the bed, which may have caused the fire.
