SAFFORD — Recreational softball players will really enjoy April, with three tournaments taking place during the month.

The first tournament is a First Responders Tournament that will take place March 31 and April 1 at the Fairgrounds.

“You have to be a first responder or a first-responder family member. We need men and women, and it’s competitive, I’m not going to lie,” said Kay Marchione with Graham County Search and Rescue.

Eligible to participate are firefighters, law enforcement, EMS and medical personnel, and Search and Rescue volunteers.

For more information, to sponsor, or to register a team call Pete Gauna 602-316-0953.

The next tournament will take place April 22 at the Fairgrounds and benefit Mt. Graham Safe House.

Entry into the co-ed tournament is $250 per team, with $10 home run bracelets. Funds will be used to develop a shelter for victims of domestic violence in Greenlee County.

FCI Safford Employees Club is putting on the last tournament of the month, a slow-pitch co-ed tournament April 29 at the Fairgrounds.

Cost is $200 per team and each team must include a minimum of four females.

Registration deadline is April 24. Call Samantha at 928-322-4088.
