WILLCOX — A live pipe bomb was discovered in the Willcox area Tuesday.
Willcox Department of Public Safety and Cochise County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 500 block of Patte Road, near North Calle Caya, at about 5:30 p.m.
Explosive ordinance techs with the Sheriff’s Office determined the explosive was live and an Arizona Department of Public Safety explosive ordinance team was called in to X-ray and dismantle the device. It was sent to the Arizona DPS crime lab for further testing.
Willcox PD and CCSO continue to search for the individual responsible for creation of the pipe bomb, and investigation into the incident is ongoing.
