Pile burning on Mount Graham

SAFFORD — Weather permitting, the Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest will conduct pile burning on Mount Graham this week.

107 acres of piles were burned Tuesday and plans are to burn another 20 to 30 acres of piles.

National Forest crews are also burning 15 acres of piles in the Santa Catalina Ranger District, near the Town of Summerhaven.

Smoke may be visible during burning operations. Trail and roadways remain open, but travelers are asked to avoid the areas where operations are taking place.
