SAFFORD — There were 17 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday.
Graham County Health Department announced that 10 of the cases involved residents of the San Carlos Apache reservation, while four were in Safford and three in Pima.
Pima Unified School District announced that at least one of the cases involves a member of the high school cheerleading squad. The result is a suspension of cheerleading until at least Oct. 8 and 27 members of the squad and two coaches placed in quarantine.
Graham County’s total number of cases is up to 868, with 153 of the cases active. There have been 25 deaths.
Greenlee County is at day seven without a new positive case of coronavirus.
Greenlee County Health Department reports the county’s total at 59, with one active case. There have been two deaths.
