SAFFORD — The young man known as “B-Rad,” who has dedicated his life to helping Graham County youths, was honored Thursday for his efforts.

Brad Olsen was presented with the Pride of Safford Award for his work with the Boys and Girls Club of the Gila Valley.

“I’m glad I got the award, and I’m glad I work with all these kids,” Olsen said. “We’ll make the club better, and always do what we do at the club.”

The anonymous nomination cites Olsen’s popularity around town, as well as his 18 years of service to the Boys and Girls Club, as both the club’s Maintenance Manager and Youth Development Assistant, where he has worked with more 1,800 Gila Valley young people during his tenure.

Called the club’s ambassador to the community, Olsen was praised for his “unwavering good will,” his unending positivity and as a role model for area young people for his countless hours of volunteerism at the club and events throughout the community.
