SAFFORD — The City of Safford is using its social media to warn residents about a possible scam hitting the area.
In the posting, city officials warn of companies claiming to be affiliated with the city for installation of solar panels.
“We want to clarify that the City of Safford does not currently, nor have we ever, contracted with solar companies to offer discounts or special programs,” the posting reads.
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is also warning residents about a crypto currency scam targeting the elderly.
“If you get a call from an unknown number, asking you to send money to them via Bitcoin, hang up the phone,” Mayes said. “It’s important to remain skeptical and remember you will never get a call from the government asking you to pay via Bitcoin.”
To report a possible scam call the Attorney General’s Office at 844-894-4735.
