SAFFORD — The Safford City-Graham County Library is getting ready to open a second location.

The opening of the new Library Annex will take place Thursday, Sept. 7, with a special ceremony from 4-6 p.m.

“The community has changed over time, and we need to change along with it,” Library Director Victoria Silva said during a recent appearance on Voice of the Valley. “It will be really nice when it’s done.”

The new Library Annex is located at 814 S. Central Ave., southwest of the Central-8th Street intersection.

The Library Annex will house the library’s Makerspace, which includes 3D printers, a Cricut machine, and a laser engraver. Podcasting and green screen technology will also be available in the coming months.

In addition, the Library Annex will host a number of programs presented with partner organizations, such as the Daughters of the American Revolution and the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension.

Development of the Library Annex was made possible by the City of Safford, with support from The Friends of the Safford Library and First Things First of Arizona.
