THATCHER — Playing a round of golf as a fund-raiser is not unusual. Playing the course backwards is.

A tournament to benefit Folds of Honor and American Legion Swift-Murphy Post 32 will take place Saturday, Sept. 16, at Mt. Graham Golf Course.

The format is a two-person scramble, with the course played backwards — teeing off from the Hole No. 1 green, players will hit to the 18th green, etc.

In addition, the round will feature the grounds crew revenge, with hazards placed by greenskeepers, such as hoses, tractors, mowers and irregular pin placements.

Cost is $150 per team plus five cans of nonperishable food. Prizes are $170 for low gross and low net each, plus USGA Flight teams have the option of participating in a players pool, with an estimated payout of $250 for first, $100 second and $50 third, based on the number of participating teams.

There will also be raffles, including a 50/50, as well as Mulligans available.

Teams must be registered by Sept. 11. Call 928-348-3140 for information.
