Thatcher toddler rescued from pool, remains hospitalized

THATCHER — A 2-year-old child remains hospitalized following a near-drowning incident Monday.

Thatcher Police responded to a call of a child found unresponsive in a swimming pool in the Cota subdivision. Police took over CPR from the initial rescuers and transported the child to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center.

MGRMC Emergency Room staff took over, reviving the child and stabilizing the child for transport to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where the child remains in undisclosed condition.

“We want to express our appreciation for all of the citizens and first responders who responded to this incident and the incredible staff at the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for their heroic actions. We are thankful for your service and your partnership,” Thatcher Police Chief Shaffen Woods said in a prepared statement.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
