Need for more training prompts Search and Rescue’s expansion plans

GRAHAM COUNTY — In order to better serve the public, Graham County Search and Rescue is asking for the public’s help.

Search and Rescue is fund-raising for a new multi-use training facility.

“The vision is to have an indoor training center, where we can be in controlled weather and learn how to rescue right,” said Search and Rescue Project Manager Ronnie Glaspie.

The plan is to add a 50-foot by 100-foot building to Search and Rescue’s current facility. The new building will include five 12-by-14 bay doors to allow for indoor storage of rescue vehicles.

Total cost of the facility is estimated at $425,000. The Graham County Board of Supervisors has authorized expending $42,500 for the building, leaving $382,500 to be raised by Search and Rescue.
