SAFFORD — Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center recently released its annual report to the community, and numbers were up across the board.

The hospital took in $79 million in revenue against $73.5 million in operating expenses.

That surplus allowed the hospital to move forward on expansion plans, including the new medical office complex — which houses Mt. Graham Surgical Associates and the Copper Mountain Clinic — and a remodeled Emergency Department.

The hospital also reports upgrades to MRI equipment and added infection control elements.

In 2021, the hospital saw 1,371 inpatient admissions and 81,873 outpatient visits, with 20,919 coming in through the Emergency Department.

“We had 560 births in 2021, and the year before that was in the . . . mid-400s, I believe,” said hospital spokesperson Shaylee Richards.

There were also 1,773 surgeries, 30,026 imaging procedures, and 184,812 laboratory tests.
