MARTHA SANCHEZ

Our Mama, Mrs. Martha [Marty, Tita, Mama] Mondragon Sanchez has left for Heaven to reunite with her much awaited family in Heaven. Marty made her transition on Friday, the afternoon of October 14, 2016, at 83 years of age, to the arms of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. While born Born in Manassa, Colorado on March 25, 1933, she leaves the rest of us. Those awaiting to reunite with her; husband Ray of 47 years, daughter MaryHelen and son-in-law Richard, son Albert and daughter-in-law Maria, son Tony, daughter Genoveva, grandsons Cody, Kai, Kal, Eric [deceased], granddaughters Anita and Tonya and local Mondragon cousins, State of Colorado and New Mexico Mondragon cousins, nieces and nephews.

Now the cherished, loving moments never-ending she expressed to us, the laughter that will resonate throughout our lives fill the hearts of her. Marty made her home as colorful as her personality. The artistic flair of an artist beamed through her entire life. In everything that she did there was color and beauty and inner heartfelt passion. The French and Indian heritage that we, her children, have inherited has always been appreciated and to our benefit. This was learned at her knee, passed down from her parents, Raquel Pablo Mondragon and Anita Anne LeFebre Mondragon from New Mexico.

In all of our meals, her cooking is reflected by the green chili and pork, homemade tortillas, beans and rice, las enchiladas, the cookies, peanut butter and oatmeal.

We cherish forever the loving care she showed toward us when we were sick or tired and needed her care.

The name “Marty” will remind Safford of her Snow Cone Store of many years, of which served generations of kids and parents. As a grandmother, she taught her grandson Cody to tend to the patrons by adding flavors to the ice and tendering money.

“Marty” known in the Valley for having a dog grooming parlor at her home, collecting antiques and having the most beautiful lawn decorated with her own and very skilled yard art and fountains. People would stop to admire her yard and comment on the beauty. Marty will be remembered in her words and her loving ways towards us all.

Mama’s transition leaves behind an immense void and will never be forgotten nor felt in heart. Not only for her family but, for her friends of many years. Love you so very much precious Mama!

A Celebration of Marty’s Life will be conducted Friday, October 21, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at the Mount Graham L.D.S. Chapel by Bishop Clay Richardson of the Safford Seventh Ward.
