SAFFORD — Independence Day may be a month away, but the City of Safford and the Safford Lions Club would like residents to start planning today.
The city is asking groups, businesses and families who plan to participate in the Fourth of July Parade to contact the city to reserve a spot.
Awards will be presented to entries in four categories:
● Most patriotic
● Most creative
● Most beautiful
● Best performance
In addition, children are encouraged to participate by decorating their bikes and scooters, and riding in the parade. Parents must register their children and at least one adult or teen must walk alongside the child riding in the parade.
July Fourth activities will start with a patriotic ceremony in front of Graham County Courthouse at 9:45 a.m., followed by a flag-raising at 10 a.m.
The parade will start once the flag is raised. The parade will start at the courthouse and travel east before turning right at 3rd Avenue.
To participate or for more information, contact parade Chairman Mike Andazola at 928-651-0271 or Pam Frost at the city at 928-432-4143.
