SUPERIOR — Drivers traveling between the Gila Valley and the Phoenix metro area will encounter multiple road restrictions next week.
There will be alternating east- and westbound lane restrictions on U.S. Highway 70 in Peridot, between mileposts 274-276, for the installation of passing lanes.
The restrictions will be in place Tuesday, July 21, through Thursday, July 23, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone and speed limit will be reduced to 25 miles per hour.
U.S. Highway 60 will be closed in both directions, between mileposts 227-243, Wednesday, July 22, and Thursday, July 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
The closure is for the Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon bridges replacement project.
Drivers will be detoured to Winkelman via State Routes 77 and 177. The roughly 75-mile detour is estimated to add about an hour to trips between the Gila Valley and the Phoenix metro area.
