SUPERIOR — The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the full closure of U.S. Highway 60 between Superior and Miami, mileposts 227-243, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, through Thursday, Oct. 31, for blasting operations related to the US 60 Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridges Replacement Project.
Flagging operations may be in effect before and after the full lane closures. In addition, a lane shift will be in effect at milepost 228, east of the Queen Creek Bridge, and speed will be reduced to 35 miles an hour.
US 60 between Miami and Magma Mine Road, mileposts 231-243, will remain open for local traffic only.
Eastbound US 60 drivers will be detoured southbound on State Route 177 through Winkleman to northbound SR 77. Westbound US 60 drivers will use southbound SR 77 through Winkleman to northbound SR 177.
The detour is estimated to add an additional hour for trips between Superior and Miami, and due to the roughly 75-mile length of this detour, drivers may want to consider planning travel before 9 a.m. and after 2 p.m.
Motorists should plan for lane restrictions and speed reductions in the work zone and a 12-foot vehicle width restriction to be in place for the duration of the project. Oversize loads may be accommodated with advance notice.

Drivers should allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down, use caution and merge safely when approaching and traveling through highway work zone.
