Lack of vaccine at the national level means locals over 65 have to wait

SAFFORD — While the call nationwide is to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to everyone over the age of 65, Graham County Health Department says that likely won’t be possible locally until March.

In a prepared release issued Thursday, the Health Department it was recently notified by Arizona Department of Health Services “that their vaccine allocations may be reduced.”

Priority for any vaccine received is being given to those 75 and older, health-care workers, first responders and educators. To be placed on the vaccine stand-by list, call 928-428-0110.

Those 65 and older may register at www.graham.az.gov or contact a primary case physician.

“At this time, we are asking everyone to please be patient,” Health Department officials said. “We are being advised that vaccine production will increase soon. Our goal is to provide every resident the opportunity for COVID-19 vaccine as quickly as can be made available.”
