Joann “Mama Jo” Gloria Soto passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, in Safford, Arizona.
Joann was born in Morenci, Arizona on April 5, 1969. She was the daughter of Leandro Baca and Magdalena Baca. She graduated from Safford High School.
She was married to Ramon Soto in June 1993. They shared 27 years of marriage together.
Joann was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and reading. She will be remembered for her love for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the holidays and decorating for the holidays was one of her favorite things to do. She was a Godly woman and loved reading the Bible and studying the word of God.
She is survived by: her husband, Ramon E. Soto; her children, Juan M. Alvarez and his wife Christina A. L. Alvarez, Maria M. Barringer and her husband Matthew Barringer, Edward J. Soto and his wife Brenda Romero, Raymond I. Soto and Ezekiel J. Soto; her 5 grandchildren; her siblings, Albert S. Baca and his wife Rachel, Richard S. Baca and his wife Bridget, Jesse B. McCabe, Joe L. Baca, Leroy S. Baca and Lucy A. Becker.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Leandro and Maggie Baca; her siblings, Steve Baca and Arturo Baca.
A private family memorial service will be conducted for Joann on Friday, December 4, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home by Pastor Kris Keyes with burial following at 2:00 p.m., at the Safford Cemetery. A full funeral service at the Gila Valley Pentecostal Church will be announced at a later date.
