Javelina crash car on Ft. Grant Road

FORT GRANT — A Willcox man suffered minor injuries when a squadron of javelina ran into his moving car.

The man told Graham County Sheriff’s deputies he was traveling north on Fort Grant Road on Monday morning, just after daybreak, when he saw the javelina off to the side. He said he changed lanes to avoid the animals, but they ran into the roadway, striking the passenger side of the vehicle.

That collision damaged the vehicle’s bumper, under carriage and front tire, pulling the vehicle off the roadway into a culvert. The airbags also deployed, resulting in a cut on the bridge of the man’s nose.

The man refused medical attention, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
