SAFFORD — An aggressive approach is being taken to knock down a wildfire on Mount Graham.
The Jacobson fire was discovered near Turkey Flat at about 9:30 p.m. Monday and was believed to out before the sunrise Tuesday. However the fire apparently reflared is listed at 6 to 8 acres as of 8 a.m. Tuesday.
A Type 3 Incident Management team has been called in, while four hotshot teams, one Department of Corrections teams and local resources currently attack the fire. In addition, air attack has been called in with two Type 1 helicopters, large air tankers and very large air tankers.
The public is asked to avoid the area while crews assess and battle the fire.
