SAFFORD — The City of Safford will be holding its eighth annual Give from the Heart Hot Dog Sale Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of Safford City Hall.
“Every year we sell hot dogs, nachos, cookies and sodas and . . . 100 percent of the proceeds go to our Give from the Heart program,” said Lorie Pedregon with Safford Utilities Department.
The city’s Give from the Heart program helps offset utility costs for residents 62 and older who meet specific financial guidelines. The Give from the Heart program currently serves 21 senior households, with a monthly utility offset of about $1,035.
In addition to the hot dog sale, $8,600 was raised through the inaugural half-beef raffle announced at SalsaFest this year, and residents can contribute when paying the monthly utility bill.
On the billing stub returned with the payment, residents can choose to make a one-time contribution of any amount, round up to the nearest whole dollar, or add $1 to the payment.
