GRAHAM COUNTY — Graham County Sheriff’s deputies were unable to track down a 10-year-old who reportedly claimed to be sleeping in a cotton field.
Deputies reported a homeowner on East Avillar Road said a boy had come to the house multiple times, asking for food and water. The homeowner said his brother fed the child, and said the child claimed to be homeschooled and was sleeping in a cotton field.
The homeowner said his brother went to school with the child’s older sibling, but hadn’t seen the sibling recently.
Deputies patrolled the area, including by the Gila River, but were able to find the boy or any signs of an encampment.
