SAFFORD — The Gila Valley Ministerial Association and Just Serve are partnering to help Graham and Greenlee families in need.
As part of the Gila Valley Day of Service, volunteers will partner with Kids Around the World to pack food boxes. One box is equivalent to 36 bags of food, and one bag can make up to six meals, meaning one box can feed a child for a year.
The boxes will be presented to food pantries in both Graham and Greenlee counties, for distribution to families in need.
Volunteers will pack boxes Saturday, Sept. 12, at Safford Regional Airport and can work one of three shifts:
- 10-11:30 a.m.
- 1-2:30 p.m.
- 3-4:30 p.m.

The Gila Valley Ministerial Association is also celebrating the third anniversary of Gila Valley Samaritan Home with an open house on Sept. 12 at 2 p.m.
“We’re super excited to open the doors and show people around and tell them about some of things that we’ve done,” said Sue Ciancimino, Samaritan Home executive director.
Gila Valley Samaritan Home is a resource center for those experience homelessness, connecting the unhoused with available services.
Samaritan Home also provides space for showers, laundry, and offers meals and water.
