Holiday open house, Soy Super at Library this week

SAFFORD — A special holiday open house will give the public the chance to see the Safford City-Graham County Library’s new exhibition for December and January — Soy Super/I’m Super.

The library’s Holiday Open House takes place Thursday, Dec. 6, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

“People can come enjoy the decorations, and we’ll have a couple of activities, a craft and, of course, Santa Claus and the bake sale,” said Leslie Talley, Library supervisor.

Visitors to the open house can also take part in Soy Super/I’m Super, a traveling exhibition where one can explore the benefits and applications of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) in everyday life.

There is a fast-paced quiz game, and patrons can use technology and science tools to explore STEAM careers.

The exhibition is especially designed for tweens 10- to 13-years-old and their families, but people of all ages will have fun learning and exploring. The exhibition is written in both English and Spanish.

The exhibition is on now and runs through Jan. 12. There is no cost to participate.

Soy Super/I’m Super is offered as part of the STAR Net STEAM Equity Project. The Safford City-Graham County Library is one of just 12 libraries nationwide selected to participate.
