THATCHER — The Monster Exchange on the campus of Eastern Arizona College will finish the semester in good financial shape, thanks to Pamper Me Ladies Night Out.

The event last weekend raised more than $2,400 through admissions and raffle sales. Combined with the $1,080 raised through a special holiday event at Copper and Cotton Lifestyle Co., the Monster Exchange is the recipient of more than $3,500 this holiday season.

“We’ve gotten a lot of attendees, and it’s been really great,” said co-organizer Chalene Preston. “I don’t know that we expected this many, but we’re very grateful to have this many.”

The Monster Exchange makes available food, clothing, personal items and school supplies to EAC students who find themselves in need.

Pamper Me brought in more than three-dozen vendors, focused on the shopping desires of the women of Graham County. Shoppers had the opportunity to purchase hand-made jewelry, unique clothing items, home décor, all-natural lotions and soaps, and more.

The highlight was the fashion show, which spotlighted the offerings at five clothing stores, including Enchanted Boutique, Copper & Cotton Lifestyle Co., Josie James Co., Turquoise Barn, and Lace & Grace.

The tradition of the Deserving Divas continued, with three local nurses —Crystal Lehmann, Brenda Henderson and Candace Wakefield — honored for their work, especially through the pandemic.

“It’s definitely been a little rougher, but you still, as a nurse, just continue to do what you went into nursing for. That’s taking care of patients, be caring and take care of the whole community,” Lehmann said.

The Wear provided the clothing for the Deserving Divas, while Eastern Arizona College of Cosmetology provided manicures and facials. Meanwhile The Parlor’s Riley Fuller and Julia Basteen, and Posh Place’s Jayden Oliver provided cuts, color and styling.
