Hispanic Heritage Corporation cancels 2020 events

SAFFORD – The Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage Corporation announced it was canceling all of its 2020 events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have a lot of people that follow us . . . we have a lot of elderly and we want to make sure they are protected from this pandemic,” said Michael Andazola, chairman of Eastern Arizona Hispanic Corporation.

Last year, Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage Corporation held two Gran Exito Fiestas – one in Morenci in September and another in Safford in November – where families and educators of the year were honored.

The corporation holds events as fund-raisers for local Hispanic students to attend Eastern Arizona College, as well as to educate the public on local Hispanic heritage, history and culture.
